Displaced Vendors May Have a New Place to Work After Broad Street Fire

by Tymber Jennings

Early this week, Harrisburg announced that the city is considering providing a temporary structure for the displaced vendors of The Broad Street Market.

The Broad Street Market took a significant hit after July’s fire, leaving many vendors lacking equipment, product, workspace, and the ability to generate income.

The Harrisburg administrator of business and the city of Harrisburg know of the vendors’ predicament and are working to cover repair costs to begin rebuilding. Yet, this process will take time due to the extensive damage that the fire caused.

Harrisburg is considering setting up a tent-like structure across the street from The Broad Street Market to ensure displaced vendors work. During the reconstruction of Broad Street Market, this structure will allow displaced vendors a short-term space to continue operating their businesses.
