Up In Smoke opened its doors in November of 2020 and has quickly become the most talked about food stop in Dauphin County. In 2012, Army veteran and Up In Smoke owner Marc McMullan took his passion for smoked and BBQ meats and used a food truck to begin to make a living in the food industry. With four years under his belt, Up In Smoke is a staple in Linglestown, and the business is thriving.
After meeting with McMullan and being introduced to his four staff members, I recognized the restaurant’s compactness and cleanliness. The place has a backyard BBQ feel, and the decor fits, finished off by the filling smell of smoked meat. The menu includes brisket, ribs, smoked chicken wings, bacon, sausage, and oxtails. Then, there are sides of mac & cheese, baked beans, cornbread, collard greens, coleslaw, and fresh-cut french fries to compliment the various entree choices (see below).
The mac & cheese is freshly made, uniquely packaged, and worth your patience. Owner Marc McMullan stated that in his three years at the restaurant, he has encountered many repeat customers who always tell him that they have tried EVERYTHING on the menu to their delight.
Up In Smoke is open Thursday through Sunday, and catering is available by reservation every day of the year by calling (717) 654-7939 or emailing upinsmokebbqandcatering@gmail.com.
