Why is Grantville, PA, and not Hershey, PA, the place where stand-up comedy is thriving?

Can it be the string of comics performed at the Laughing Stock Comedy Club in Grantville, PA, be established up-and-coming acts that have served on national levels and are quite funny? Or is it because the hosts Jeffrey Paul, Rich Carucci, and Stephen Cohen have combined decades of experience on stage? The answer is yes, plus yes!

The Laughing Stock Comedy Club is in the Grand Ballroom of the Holiday Inn, Grantville. Yes, I said GRANTVILLE. Their next-door neighbor is the home of the world-renowned Hershey Chocolate Company, Hershey Park, Hershey Gardens, the Hershey Bears, and the most remarkable creation of the late Milton and Catherine Hershey, The Milton Hershey School. Hershey is well-represented. Grantville, however, has its perks as well.

Grantville is a small community of about thirty-five hundred people in East Hanover Township, Dauphin County. Besides the Hollywood Casino and Penn National Racecourse, there is very little entertainment in Grantville until now. The Laughing Stock Comedy Club and the Holiday Inn Grantville have been hosting comedy shows with nationwide comedians. Until the day of the show, most comedians had not heard of Grantville, PA. Yet, with the shows being located at one of the more impressive hotels in the area, Grantville is quickly becoming the place to be on the weekend. Performances are held every Friday and Saturday at 8:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7:30 p.m. food and drinks are available. When you attend the comedy show, there is free admission to the hotel’s popular bar, the Winners Circle.
